Which phones support eSIM?
Your phone must support eSIM and must not be carrier-locked (if it came with a contract, check with your carrier first).
iPhone
- iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and every iPhone released since (including iPhone SE 2nd and 3rd generation) support eSIM.
- iPhone X, iPhone 8 and earlier models don't have eSIM.
- Exception: some iPhones bought in mainland China, Hong Kong or Macau don't have eSIM. Go to Settings → General → About; it's supported only if you see an EID.
- On iPad, only cellular models support eSIM; Wi-Fi models don't have it.
Android
- Support depends on the brand, model and the region where it was sold; regional versions of the same model can differ.
- Check it yourself: go to Settings → Network & internet (Connections on Samsung) → SIMs. If you see “Add eSIM” or “Download a SIM”, it's supported.
- Or dial
*#06#: if an EID appears, it's supported.
